Chevalier de La Prade 2008 750ml Saint-Julien Bordeaux 18-Year-Old Aged Red Wine
The name remains a secret. That's precisely why you'll want to try it.
My encounter with this wine was at a tasting event hosted by the importer.
Among hundreds of wines, it was this particular bottle that caught the eye of Sumitaya's buyer.
Rather than flashy fruitiness or obvious impact, it offered complexity and depth born from aging. The classical Bordeaux style, which changes expression as you drink it, was captivating, and the decision to purchase it was made on the spot.
An undisclosed "classified growth"
According to the importer's资料, this wine is an original label from Château du Grana, and is introduced as "a classified growth wine."
However, the name of the château is not disclosed.
Which classified growth it originates from remains a mystery. And that's precisely why it stimulates the imagination of wine lovers.
As you sip your glass, conversations like, "Which château could this be from?" are another unique pleasure this wine offers.
The taste created by 18 years of aging
The 2008 vintage is an appealing period where, in addition to youthful fruitiness, the complexity derived from aging has begun to emerge.
In addition to fruit aromas reminiscent of cassis and black cherry, there are layered,落ち着いた aromas of cedar, cigar box, leather, and earth.
The mouthfeel is smooth, and the tannins, while rounded, still provide a firm structure. The finish is long, with the elegance and grace characteristic of Saint-Julien.
