Banfi Rosso di Montalcino 2018 750ml | Red Wine Italy
Banfi was founded in Montalcino, Tuscany, in 1978 by the Mariani family. Owning 178 hectares, approximately one-tenth of its certified vineyards, it is one of the region's leading producers. Rosso di Montalcino is a red wine made from Sangiovese Grosso grown in the same vineyards as the renowned Brunello, offering an earlier-drinking style.
Description
A brilliant ruby-red hue is layered with spicy aromas and berry fruit, along with nuances of cherry and licorice. Aging for 10-12 months in large oak casks and barriques gives the tannins a smooth texture and creates a balanced, elegant finish.
Recommended serving suggestions
It pairs exceptionally well with Italian home cooking, such as pasta with tomato sauce and roasted meat dishes. While available at a more approachable price than Brunello, it offers the high quality of grapes grown in the same vineyards.
