It is a blended malt whisky where master blender Ichiro Akuto and his team of blenders meticulously selected and vatted (blended) a variety of malt whiskies aged in Chichibu's natural environment with uncompromising sensibility.

The World's Only Three-Stage Mizunara Process

Chichibu Distillery is known for using the world's only "mizunara washbacks (fermentation vats)". Unique lactic acid bacteria residing in the wood nurture "moromi" (fermented mash) with the rich flavor unique to Chichibu.
Furthermore, the distillery employs a production method that thoroughly understands mizunara wood, involving re-casking (marriage) in mizunara barrels made in Chichibu's own cooperage, and then post-aging in mizunara "marriage tanks". It is truly a symbol of the Chichibu Distillery.

Peaty Power and a Profound Aroma Reminiscent of Incense Wood

By using a higher proportion of peated malt, the oriental aroma derived from mizunara and the deep sweetness are exquisitely highlighted.

"Non-chill filtered, non-colored" to deliver the whisky's true character

To preserve the whisky's inherent umami components, it is bottled as non-chill filtered (without chilling and filtration) and non-colored (without artificial coloring). While cloudiness or sediment may occur at low temperatures, this is a sign that the umami components are concentrated, and it does not affect the quality in any way.
