Octomore 17.1 Scottish Barley 700ml | Whisky United Kingdom
Octomore 17.1 Scottish Barley, the starting point of the 17 series, matured entirely in first-fill bourbon casks
Octomore is the super-heavily peated series created by Bruichladdich Distillery. As the starting point of the 17th series, this expression uses 100% Concerto barley grown on mainland Scotland and is matured for 5 years entirely in first-fill bourbon casks.
Key features
With a phenol level of 81.0 ppm, full maturation in first-fill bourbon casks creates an integrated flavor of smoky and charred aromas. Distilled, matured, and bottled entirely at the Bruichladdich Distillery, this whisky is non-chill-filtered and naturally colored.
Tasting notes
Sweet aromas reminiscent of vanilla, milkshakes, and Scottish tablet mingle with warm custard tart nuances, melting together with pear candy and malt syrup. Smokiness, salinity, and sweetness are harmoniously balanced on the palate.
Recommended serving
To enjoy the bold flavor unique to cask strength, try it neat first. Adding a small amount of water allows the aromas to open up beautifully.
