The second release in the 17th series of Octomore, Bruichladdich's super heavily peated series. Its distinctive character comes from five years of maturation using two types of casks in succession, showcasing the unique flavor of a European cask.
Key features
The phenol level is 81.0 ppm. It is matured for four years in second-fill French oak casks previously used for bourbon maturation, then finished in first-fill port casks. The depth and complexity created by this relay between two types of casks are especially appealing.
Flavor and aroma profile
The distinctive smokiness of super heavily peated whisky is layered with sweet nuances from the port cask finish. Flavors from the French oak intertwine with smoky aromas to create a complex, deep character.
