フランス・ノルマンディー地方のフェカンで造られるハーブリキュール「ベネディクティン」。27種類の植物とスパイスを使った、40度・700mlです。
27種類のハーブとスパイスが重なる、修道院ゆかりのリキュール
ベネディクティンは、1510年にフェカンのベネディクト会修道院で修道士が考案した処方がもとになった、と伝えられるリキュールです（伝承であり、歴史的な裏付けは限られています）。1863年にアレクサンドル・ル・グランが古い文書の中からその処方を見つけ、商品化しました。アンジェリカやヒソップ、サフラン、シナモン、ナツメグ、クローブなど27種類の植物とスパイスを使い、浸漬と蒸留、樽熟成を経て、最後にハチミツなどを加えて仕上げます。ラベルの「D.O.M.」はラテン語「Deo Optimo Maximo」の略です。
おすすめの楽しみ方
食後にストレートやロックで、ハーブとハチミツの重なる香りをゆっくり味わうのがおすすめ。ブランデーと合わせる「B&B」は定番の飲み方です。ソーダで割ればすっきりとした一杯に。ナッツやドライフルーツ、チーズ、ビターチョコレートとよく合います。
