Jorio is a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC produced by Umani Ronchi, one of the leading producers in Abruzzo. Created in the mid-1990s to explore the potential of the region's native grape variety, the wine's name is also said to be an homage to Gabriele D'Annunzio, a poet from Abruzzo.
About Jorio
Its deep ruby-red color leads to aromas reminiscent of plum and red cherry, layered with balsamic nuances and licorice flavors, expressing the characteristic strength of Abruzzo. The grapes, hand-picked from late September through mid-October, are destemmed and crushed, then undergo 10 to 12 days of maceration in stainless steel tanks at 26-28°C, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for approximately 12 months and rested in the bottle for several more months before shipment.

With firm tannins and rich fruit flavors, this wine pairs beautifully with dishes featuring distinct, pronounced flavors, such as pasta with tomato sauce, meat dishes, and grilled vegetables. Although it is affordably priced for casual enjoyment, it offers a satisfying depth of flavor, making it an excellent everyday wine for your regular meals.
