-
Maboroshi Black Box 2025 Release: This sake offers a fresh and fragrant aroma, the rich umami of Yamada Nishiki, and a sharp finish. The ideal serving temperature is 5-15°C. When served chilled, the balance of aroma and flavor is outstanding.
-
Narahara Brewery 1-Year Aged Edition: This special edition has been carefully aged for one year at 3°C in the Narahara Brewery. Through aging, the vibrant aroma is slightly subdued, while a mellow umami and rich body are enhanced. It pairs well with food, and when enjoyed chilled, you can savor its profound flavor.

The Pinnacle of Nakao Brewery, a Masterpiece of Sake
"Seikyo Junmai Daiginjo Genshu Maboroshi 'Black Box'" is a proud creation of Nakao Brewery in Takehara City, Hiroshima Prefecture. This Junmai Daiginjo Genshu is meticulously brewed by hand using yeast collected from apples, passed down through generations at the brewery, and is released only once a year in limited quantities.
The Crystallization of History and Tradition
Founded in 1871, Nakao Brewery has continued to brew sake utilizing Hiroshima's high-quality rice and the clear subterranean waters of the Kamo Mountains. In particular, the Daiginjo sake brewed by the third generation, Kiyomaro Nakao, using yeast collected from apple peels, won first prize at the National Sake Appraisal in 1948 and was honored as the Imperial Household's New Year's Sake for three consecutive years. "Maboroshi 'Black Box'" is a faithful reproduction of that tradition.
Commitment to Brewing Methods
The brewing process is characterized by meticulous attention to detail, such as using an optimal total rice quantity of 600kg and pressing all of it by hanging the mash in cloth bags (fukuro-tsuri). It boasts a rich and fragrant aroma derived from apple yeast and the robust flavor of Yamada Nishiki, yet offers a refreshingly crisp finish that disappears quickly on the palate. The ideal serving temperature is 5-15°C, and it is shipped after proper aging. Stored in a cool, dark place, it maintains its quality even after five years, allowing you to enjoy the mellow richness that develops with age.
Tasting Notes
