Founded in 1850 by Carlo Gancia in Canelli, Piedmont, Gancia studied Champagne production in France before creating Italy's first sparkling wine using Moscato Bianco grapes. This Asti Spumante carries on the story of the company's founding to this day.
An Italian royal-court spumante with a distinguished history
In 1870, after Vittorio Emanuele II, known as the father of Italian unification, became a devoted drinker of this Asti Spumante, it was served as the official wine of the royal household until Italy transitioned to a republic in 1946. Produced using the Charmat method (secondary fermentation in tanks), it preserves the naturally elegant aromas and rich fruitiness of Moscato Bianco grapes. The first spumante to receive D.O.C.G. (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) certification, it is truly one of Italy's leading and most prestigious wines.
Recommended serving
When poured into a glass, it releases elegant aromas reminiscent of honeyed apples, candied citrus, and fully ripened mangoes. Its fine bubbles and well-balanced sweetness make it an excellent dessert wine to pair with fruit tart or panna cotta, as well as a delightful celebratory toast. Serve well chilled at approximately 6-8°C.
