Although it was initially sold exclusively at the visitor center of the Puerto Rico distillery when it was first launched in 2003, its exceptional taste led to its global release. Key Features ("Angel's Share" from Aging)
It undergoes an incredibly long aging process of 10 to 16 years in American oak barrels. During long-term aging in the warm climate of the Caribbean, a significant amount of the original spirit evaporates from the barrels each year. After 10 to 15 years of aging, indeed more than half (approximately 50% to 65% or more) of the barrel's contents are lost. This vanished spirit is called the "angel's share," and only extremely rare and concentrated spirits that have survived this process, thanks to the immense bounty of nature and time, are luxuriously used.
The long-aged spirit then undergoes charcoal filtration again, is blended with expert skill, and after several months of marriage (further aging), it is carefully bottled.
Flavor and Aroma Characteristics
It features a rich and smooth taste, combining the tannins and fruity ester notes characteristic of long-aged rum with rich vanilla and sweet molasses.
