Hayman's Old Tom Gin 700ml | Gin United Kingdom
A taste of the Victorian era today. Marked by a black cat: “Hayman's Old Tom Gin”
Old Tom gin, recognizable by the “old black tomcat” depicted on its label. Hayman Distillery has faithfully recreated this historic style, which originated from the signs used to identify gin sold illicitly in Victorian-era England to evade regulations.
Description
Using juniper berries as the primary botanical, this gin is made with a variety of botanicals, including coriander seeds, angelica root, lemon peel, orange peel, and cinnamon. A defining feature of Old Tom gin is the slight addition of sugarcane-derived spirit during dilution, which creates its distinctive mellow sweetness. The result is a mellow, rich flavor that retains a pronounced dry character.
Recommended ways to enjoy
It pairs exceptionally well with classic cocktails that use Old Tom gin, including the Martini. You can also easily enjoy its mellow sweetness over ice or with soda.
