Port Askaig 2016 9 Year Old Barrel, a Japan-market-exclusive 9-year-old cask-strength whisky
This single malt uses spirit from the distillery with the highest production volume on Islay, located in a bay overlooking the Sound of Islay. After maturation in a refill hogshead, it was reracked into a toasted barrel in 2020 to pursue even greater depth of flavor. This 9-year-old single cask is a Japan-market-exclusive release.

Flavor and aroma profile
The color is yellow gold. When poured into a glass, savory aromas reminiscent of smoked chicken and earthy, damp smoke unfold, layered with fresh lemon and ripe kiwi fruit aromas and a subtle salinity. The palate is smooth, with sweetness from the toasted barrel at its core, followed by apple and apricot fruitiness and refreshing citrus, accented by ginger-like spice. On the finish, sweetness, spice, and soft smoke overlap and linger pleasantly.
