Shindo Distillery Shindo Experimental for CORES 03 700ml | Blended Malt Japanese Whisky
The third release in the exploration series that takes EXPERIMENTAL even further: “Shindo Experimental for CORES 03”
“CORES” is a series by Shindo Distillery in Asakura, Fukuoka, based on its EXPERIMENTAL series while pursuing deeper themes under the concept “THE QUEST FOR THE ORIGINAL.” This third release uses non-peated spirit that has spent four years maturing in AWO new oak casks as its key malt, with a total of seven different spirits vatted together.
Key Features
This is the third release in the Cores series. Based on the Experimental series, the CORES series takes its commitment to craftsmanship further by exploring deeper themes. At Shindo, maturation takes place in a diverse range of casks, including those used for experimental purposes.
Some casks have now been nurtured for more than four years and are finally beginning to blossom. The key malt selected for this release is non-peated spirit matured in AWO new oak casks. After four years of maturation in new oak, it displays a prominent green aroma reminiscent of the fresh, pleasant forest scents derived from terpenes.
Building on these newly acquired green aromatic elements, seven spirits in total were vatted, including peated spirit and non-peated spirit matured in Mizunara casks, each with deeper maturation than in the previous release.
Centered on a gentle sweetness, this whisky combines the earthy, mossy smokiness of Scotland’s deep valleys and rolling hills, a bright fruitiness, and mature composure - making it a fitting latest addition to the Cores series.
Recommended Serving
First, enjoy it neat and take your time appreciating how its aromas evolve.
