Château Sainte-Barbe stands on the banks of the Garonne in France’s Bordeaux region. Built in the 18th century by Victor Louis, the architect known for designing the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, this historic château was designated a historic building in 1996. Les Argiles, made by the château’s winemaker, is a Bordeaux AOC red wine produced from vineyards dominated by clay-rich soils (argiles), as its name suggests.
Description
A classic Bordeaux blend centered on Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Clay-rich soils are said to offer an excellent balance of drainage and water retention, bringing out Merlot’s natural fruitiness and generous roundness. Aromas of ripe berry fruit mingle with spicy and roasted nuances, while the palate is smooth with gentle tannins. Unpretentious and made to complement everyday meals, it delivers the reassuring, quintessentially Bordeaux character of an easy-drinking wine.

Serving it slightly chilled at around 16°C brings out the definition of its fruit flavors.
