Château Chasse-Spleen 2019 750ml | Red Wine France
Château Chasse-Spleen, a prestigious estate in the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation, located just northwest of the village of Margaux in the Bordeaux Médoc region. Its name means “to dispel melancholy,” and is said to have been given by the English poet Byron, who stayed at the château in 1821. Although it is not classified, the estate is often regarded as producing quality comparable to that of a Third Growth château and continues to receive high acclaim.
A 2019 vintage that combines power and finesse
A blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. Complex aromas reminiscent of vanilla, cherry, blackberry, cassis, and old roses are harmoniously balanced by a rich attack and silky tannins. Said to have aging potential through around 2045, this is a serious wine well suited to long-term cellaring.
Recommended serving
It pairs exceptionally well with grilled beef, lamb dishes, and aged cheese. Decant it and savor the gradual opening of its aromas.
