Château Smith Haut Lafitte is a leading classified Graves estate in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Known for its distinctive terroir, described as “the most Graves-like of Graves,” it has been owned by Daniel and Florence Cathiard since 1990 and has also attracted attention for its pioneering initiatives, including in-house barrel production and biodynamic farming.
Description
The 2013 vintage is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. Complex aromas reminiscent of violets, menthol, leather, and crushed stones are layered with nuances of wild strawberries and cedar. Its smooth palate is marked by a finely textured character reminiscent of Pinot Noir, with oak flavors beautifully integrated into the fruit.
Recommended serving suggestions
Excellent with aromatic meat dishes such as roast duck or herb-seasoned lamb. We also recommend letting it rest for a little while after opening to allow the aromas to unfold before enjoying.
