"Arawaza Sakurajima" is an imo-shochu (sweet potato shochu) brewed by Honbo Shuzo in Kagoshima Prefecture, at a distillery overlooking Sakurajima. What makes this brand unique is its use of "polishing distillation," a proprietary method developed by the company, with "Kogane Sengan" sweet potatoes from Minami-Satsuma as the raw material. By distilling while creating convection in the mash, the shochu retains the original umami and aroma of the sweet potato, while minimizing impurities to create a light and refreshing taste. The moment it touches your lips, a gentle, sweet aroma of sweet potato spreads, followed by a crisp and clean finish, allowing you to truly appreciate the carefully polished quality of the liquor. Its high level of perfection is also reflected in international accolades, having won a gold medal and a trophy in the shochu category at the IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition) in 2013.
