This bottle uses peat rich in "heather" flowers, nurtured by the harsh natural environment of the Orkney Islands. It is truly an embodiment of "True Orkney," combining the aromatic smokiness created by its unique production method with the overwhelming power of 63.6% alcohol by volume, bottled without any water adjustment.
The meticulously calculated harmony of "casks" and "peat"
Under the exceptional skill of Master Whisky Maker Mark Watt, a precise combination of the following different casks is used:
- First-fill European oak sherry casks: Impart dense sweetness and depth.
- American oak sherry casks: Create a vibrant vanilla-like character.
- Carefully selected refill casks: Play a role in harmonizing overall smoothness and balance.
These are bottled non-chill filtered and with natural color, free of artificial coloring. The deep amber color, straight from the cask, speaks to its high quality.
Tasting notes: Powerful, yet velvety in texture
- Nose: Aromatic fragrance with layers of bonfire smoke, vanilla pods, and rich brandy butter.
- Palate: Velvety smooth texture. Creamy marshmallow and savory macadamia nuts burst forth with a peppery spice.
- Finish: A vibrant floral smoke provides a crisp finish, with the sweet vanilla lingering pleasantly.
