The Lagavulin Distillers Edition 2022 is a limited annual release from the renowned Lagavulin distillery, a proud symbol of Islay, Scotland. This expression is crafted by finishing (additional maturation) normally aged new make spirit in sweet Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry casks, resulting in a truly unique flavor profile that combines smoke and salinity with luscious sweetness reminiscent of dried fruits, and remarkable complexity.

Tasting Notes
Nose — Rich sweetness of dark oak, roasted malt, syrupy raisins, and dried fruits. Behind this, smoke from peat and nuances of the sea slowly emerge.
Palate — Initially smooth and sweet, with flavors of toffee, candy, and caramel, followed by smoky peat, salinity, and depths of coffee and dark chocolate. Sweetness, smoke, and salt are harmoniously balanced.
Finish — Smoky and dry, with a subtle bitterness and spice that lingers, and complex flavors that slowly drift until the very end.

We recommend first enjoying the harmony of PX cask sweetness and Lagavulin's inherent smokiness and salinity straight or on the rocks. If desired, adding a small amount of water will open up layers of sweetness, fruitiness, and spice, bringing out an even more complex finish.
