「ワームタブ シングルカスク」シリーズについて
アトム・ブランズ社のウイスキー部門責任者サム・シモンズが、今では数少なくなった伝統的な「ワームタブ（蛇管式冷却器）」を使い続ける蒸溜所の原酒を厳選し、シングルカスクでボトリングしたシリーズです。ワームタブは、冷水を張った大きな桶の中にらせん状の銅管を通して蒸気を冷やす昔ながらの方式。銅との接触が少ないため、重厚で力強く、肉厚な酒質が生まれるといわれています。
味わい・香りの特徴
香りは麦芽のレーズンパン、ストーンフルーツ、ハチミツ、ミルクキャラメル、煮込んだ洋梨、干し肉、ミネラル。味わいはゴールデンシロップ、スパイス、砂糖漬けのオレンジ、グリーンアップル、砂糖漬けのパイナップル。ワームタブ由来の力強い酒質と、シェリー樽の濃密な甘みが重なり合う、飲みごたえのある一本です。
おすすめの楽しみ方
まずは少量をストレートで、じっくりと香りの変化をお楽しみください。度数が高いので、数滴ずつ加水していくと、隠れていた果実味や甘みが開いていきます。
