About the Wine

At approximately 50 hectares, Clos Vougeot is one of the largest Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, when it was enclosed by stone walls by the Cistercian Abbey. Today, nearly 80 producers share ownership of this single vineyard, making its structure exceptionally unique. The soil differs between the upper part of the vineyard, on the slope, and the lower part, on the flatter land. As a result, even wines from the same Clos Vougeot can show distinct characteristics depending on the producer and location. Jean-Charles Lecuyer, the négociant behind this wine, specializes in rare aged wines. The company carefully selects only high-quality base wines with the potential to withstand more than 10 years of aging, then patiently matures them in its own cellars before releasing them. The 2015 vintage is considered an excellent year for Burgundy, praised for combining concentration with elegance. It produced well-balanced grapes with firm acidity and without excessive sugar accumulation. More than 10 years after bottling, this wine has now reached an ideal drinking window, where powerful structure harmonizes with graceful maturity.
