1849年、フランス・アンジェで菓子職人だったアドルフ・コアントローとその弟エドゥアール＝ジャンが蒸留所を興したことから始まる「コアントロー」の歴史。次世代のエドゥアール・コアントローが世界中のオレンジを研究し尽くし、1875年に完成させたレシピは、今もそのまま受け継がれています。
凝縮されたオレンジの香りを生む、伝統の製法
ビターオレンジ（乾燥）とスイートオレンジ（乾燥・生）の果皮を、ニュートラルスピリッツにじっくりと浸漬してから蒸留し、甜菜糖で調え、純水でアルコール度数を整えるという伝統製法を今も守り続けています。オレンジの皮由来のエッセンス含有量はオレンジリキュールの中でも際立って高く、それでいて甘さは控えめ。透明な液色から想像できないほど凝縮されたオレンジの香りが、口いっぱいに広がります。
おすすめの楽しみ方
そのままロックで香りを堪能するのはもちろん、マルガリータやコスモポリタン、サイドカーなど、世界中の定番カクテルに欠かせない存在です。オレンジジュースやトニックウォーターで割るだけでも、本格的な香りを手軽に楽しめます。お菓子作りの香り付けとしても定評があり、ケーキやチョコレートとの相性も抜群です。
