“Iki” is made by Genkai Shuzo on Iki Island in Nagasaki Prefecture, the birthplace of barley shochu. Using the traditional Iki shochu method of combining rice koji and barley, it offers a harmonious balance of natural sweetness and roasted aroma.
Description
Iki shochu is traditionally made using a ratio of 30% rice koji to 70% barley. This produces a distinctive flavor that combines the roasted aroma of barley with the soft sweetness derived from rice koji. Founded in 1900, Genkai Shuzo is one of the breweries that continues to preserve the traditions of Iki shochu. With its clean, refreshing finish, this classic barley shochu is easy to enjoy as part of your everyday evening drink.
