Kagoshima's Oguchi Shuzo Kuro Isa Nishiki is a sweet-potato shochu known for the richness and umami imparted by black-koji fermentation. Since its launch in 1987, this classic brand has been loved as a pioneer of Kagoshima's black-koji shochu boom.
Description
The abundant water of the Isa region and carefully selected Kogane Sengan sweet potatoes are slowly fermented with black koji to draw out a full-bodied umami and deep richness. With “a straightforward aroma and refreshing mouthfeel” as its concept, this shochu offers the satisfying character typical of sweet-potato shochu while maintaining a clean, refreshing finish.
Recommended ways to enjoy
Enjoying its aroma and richness slowly with hot water is the classic way to drink it. It is also excellent served on the rocks for a crisp finish, while mixing it with soda creates a refreshing taste that pairs easily with meals.
