La Gibryotte Hospices de Beaune Pommard Cuvée Suzanne Chaudron [2022] 750 ml

From Pommard, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy. We introduce an extremely rare limited cuvée, crafted by La Gibryotte, the négociant arm of the renowned top producer Claude Dugat.

■ Production Background and Philosophy

La Gibryotte, the négociant division of Claude Dugat, considered the top producer in Gevrey-Chambertin, was established in 2002 by the Dugat family's eldest daughter, Laetitia, and eldest son, Bertrand. They uphold winemaking techniques that honor the traditional and exceptional expertise inherited from their father, Claude Dugat. Purchased wines are meticulously aged in La Gibryotte's cellars to bring out their best qualities. They perform gravity-fed racking and careful bottling to minimize stress on the wine.

The Hospices de Beaune is a charitable hospital founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, Chancellor to the Duke of Burgundy, and his wife Guigone de Salins. From the Middle Ages until the mid-20th century, it provided free medical care to the poor, including orphans. In 1457, Guillemette Levernier and other local landowners began donating vineyards, and the sales of wine from these vineyards supported the hospital's operations. Today, the hospital's functions have been relocated, and this historic building, with its beautiful mosaic roof, attracts many tourists to Beaune as a museum.

"Pommard Cuvée Suzanne Chaudron" is made from grapes from a plot donated to the Hospices de Beaune by Monsieur and Madame Siro Chaudron in 1979. Each plot's distinct personality yields excellent wines imbued with power, volume, and finesse.
