Old Perth Vintage Collection 2009 is a 14-year-old blended malt made exclusively with Speyside malt whisky distilled in 2009.
It is bottled non-chill filtered, non-colored, and at cask strength, using only whiskies fully matured in 1st fill Oloroso sherry casks, 2nd fill Oloroso sherry casks, and 1st fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Only 1,482 bottles were released worldwide, with a mere 90 bottles allocated to Japan (details of the malts used are undisclosed).
The color is deep mahogany. The aroma begins with nuances of sandalwood and dried tobacco leaves, followed by rich aromas of dried fruits, including raisins. The taste offers a deep and rich flavor, with raisins and candied orange peel, complemented by the rich sweetness of brown sugar, and warm spices such as cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. As it finishes, the impression of dried fruits and spices mellows, giving way to a rich nutty flavor and a long, waxy aftertaste.
